Luxury Holiday Lodges

Oak and Ash Lodge are spacious two bedroom, larch clad eco lodges situated in a quiet spot amongst the woodland to the side of our campsite.  The Lodges have been hand crafted and designed using heritage methods from locally sourced timber and clad in untreated Scottish larch.    With the idea of creating a sustainable eco friendly cabin which blends into its surroundings with minimal carbon footprint.

The lodges have all the modern luxuries you would expect from a holiday lodge however they are run by a bank of solar panels and are completely off grid from mains electric.  Do not worry though as they are well equipped with gas central heating, 4 ring hob and a wood fired oven and cooking stove. The solar power provides enough power for lights, a fridge, tv, phone chargers, shaver socket and even a specially sourced hairdryer.

The lodges are set within the trees looking out to the east over the surrounding countryside near Morpeth.

The Historic market town of Morpeth is located in the heart of  Northumberland and is an ideal base to explore both the coast & countryside. Morpeth is a lovely market town with a beautiful walk through arcade shopping centre and lots of craft/artisan shops and fabulous restaurants and tea rooms.   You can take a stroll along the river Wansbeck or Carlisle Park on to the gatehouse and the ruins of the Castle. Try your hand at river boating, tennis or bowls.  Marvel at the Turner Garden inspired by the father of English Botany William Turner who was born and educated in Morpeth.  Peruse Morpeth’s regular Wednesday market or learn about Northumbrian Bagpipes in the Bagpipe Museum.  Then choose something to remember your visit by at The Chantry Northumbrian Arts and Craft Gallery.

Just 15 minutes drive to the South of Morpeth you can take in the arts and culture of Newcastle City Centre. Or step back in time and visit the Roman forts amongst the dramatic windswept countriside of Hadrian’s Wall. Walk the Cheviots and stop off in Rothbury for tea. Explore Cragside the first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity.  Have a day out in Alnwick to see Harry Potter’s Castle and the famous Alnwick gardens.  Or Discover the heritage of Northumberlands past with a visit to Wallington Hall. Whatever you decide to do we know you will find lots to keep you busy whilst you stay here.

On an evening you can use the little oven to cook casseroles, lasagne or mince and dumplings etc. Of course you may not feel like having the log burner on if its a pleasant warm day so we also provide a slow cooker which is perfect for cooking in when the sun is shining as it will power the slow cooker all day whilst you are out so you can come back to something yummy and warm at the end of the day.  If its a lovely sunny evening you can cook on the bbq too so you have plenty of options. Plus if you don't fancy cooking, Morpeth has an fantastic array of restaurants and takeaways to cover most tastes in food from good British pub food, to Italian, Greek, Indian, the list goes on. If you fancy a pleasant stroll out for a pub meal its just a 25 minute walk to St Mary's inn which is really good. :-)
